I have been saying for years how blessed we are to live in a place that is not impacted by severe weather events. Just long winters, ice storms, snow storms. Then we experienced poor air quality from the Canadian fires that blew smoke our way. Yesterday, there was rain, more rain and then even more rain. Vermont had drought conditions which has now been alleviated by the rain during the past two weeks. Sadly, and in some cases tragically, we experienced floods throughout the state. The Northeast Kingdom is not too bad and our own road is rutted with huge puddles, but passable. Many Vermonters evacuated their homes and we are waiting to see how things play out the rest of the day. There is no safe place in the context of climate change. I cherish each beautiful day in Vermont and pray for the folks who are dealing with loss and damage.
